Here’s a look back at some of the top performing teams in Week 7, as well as a preview of Week 8 in MPL PH Season 9.
RSG DESTROYING EVERYONE
RSG Philippines may not have the biggest buzz, but they do a good job. The squad that spent much of the season behind ECHO Philippines and TNC is now the top team and current rankings kings.
RSG became the first side in the OKBET MPL Philippines this season to play three matches in a single weekend. Every day from day one to day three, the team played a match. They finished with a 2-1 record in all of their games this week, but they ended up with the highest total score thus far with 28 points, as well as a 10-3 match win-loss record and a 21-9 game win-loss record. They defeated TNC 2-0 on day one, followed by a commanding win against ECHO’s super squad, also 2-0.

They lost 2-1 to M3 global champion Blacklist International, but it was enough to put them ahead of everyone else thus far in MPL PH season 9. Dylan “Light” Catipon of RSG was named MVP of the week after averaging 1.86 kills, 2.00 deaths, and 7.71 assists in three matches.
The talk of the town right now, and at the conclusion of this essay, is Blacklist.
ONIC RETURNS, SECURES PLAYOFF SPOT
Onic Philippines struggled last week after failing to maintain their momentum from week 5 at the OKBET MPL Philippines. This week, they had an equal trade after winning one and losing one of their two matches. But the overall picture is more essential. And the M3 finalist is suddenly a Playoff candidate.
While Onic defeated MSC 2021 champion Omega Esports 2-1 on day one, the squad was swept 2-0 by TNC on day three. Despite this, they scored enough points to qualify for the Playoffs, and the team now has 17 points, a 7-5 match win-loss record, and an even 16-16 game win-loss record.
Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol of Onic is also the player with the most kills in the whole OKBET MPL Philippines season 9, with 145 total kills. In terms of average kills per game, he is second only to ECHO’s Karl “Karltzy” Nepomuceno, with the former averaging 5.56 and the latter 4.53.
BLACKLIST & OMEGA ESPORTS’ LAST CHANCE
Four more clubs are vying for a berth in the Playoffs. Nexplay Evos, Blacklist International, Omega Esports, and Bren Esports are presently ranked fourth and fifth, respectively at the OKBET MPL Philippines.
Nexplay now has 16 points, followed by Blacklist (14), Omega (13), and Bren (10). Nothing is out of reach for any of these teams. However, odds of making the Playoffs are already dwindling. So far, Nexplay and Blacklist have the upper hand, but we don’t sure what will happen, particularly with Omega and Bren having the capacity to pull off significant comebacks at crucial periods at the OKBET MPL Philippines.
I believe Blacklist will comeback in the last week and finish first in the Playoffs. To do so, they must defeat Omega Esports, who has lately lost four out of five duels at the OKBET MPL Philippines. OMG are still riding high after their triumph against Nexplay last week. The match between Blacklist and Omega might be our “Match of the Week” to end the regular season.
Starting Friday, April 8th, you can see all of the final week action.
